Pairing the old medium of aerial advertising with new technology jargon, Flatchestedmama sends a message through the sky.
On September 5th, 2009, the above aerial letter banner flew over the Seattle Center (Bumbershoot), for one hour sometime between 4-7pm.
Aerial letter banners are an antiquated format (before cell phones and online social networks) for communicating brief, succinct messages.

An alternate idea for the banner was, "The Original Tweet", but 'texting' felt more universal than referencing the new online social network called Twitter.
It feels fitting, in today's fast paced, ever changing landscape of technology, to be one step behind in the matter. Newer, better, faster things are entering the horizon
every day and it can be exhausting to keep up.

The medium of aerial advertising is heavily intermingled with my childhood. I used to spend summers on the Jersey shore where aerial letter banners were seen on a routine basis. During the recent SeaFair events I witnessed an aerial banner and the idea was born.

Many thanks to John Carson of Sky Signs, Hollis Rendleman, Ben Sarao, Erin Shafkind,
AJ Gardner, Bob Redmond and Bumbershoot.
